● strengths:
Shuri is passionate, intelligent and kind hearted. She is a princess and was bred to take over a position where she could help her country prosper. She loves her family and Wakanda with all her heart and strives to make her home better using her brilliant mind. Shuri is not just intelligent but a genius. Using the vibrainum in Wakanda, she has created new inventions that have far surpassed the technology of the known world within the Marvel Universe; surpassing others in the canon such as Tony Stark, who is seen as an engineer of his time.
She is fascinated with social trends and American culture. She keeps up on social media which is seen through her comments and references to well-known internet memes. She loves puns and is easily excited when her inventions work. She has also been known to record tests and playfully use her brother or her friends as test subjects.
Shuri has a good heart. She has a great relationship with her brother and parents. She deeply cares about people and it shows the most when she’s urging her brother to start the Wakanda outreach program. It is noted at the end of the movie, when T'Challa is showing Shuri the sight of the new building, that he said she was right and who better to run the facility than the person who was urging him to expand their influence and help others.
● weaknesses:
Shuri is very young and, despite being thrust into a position of power, she is still a child. She keeps a child-like demeanor when talking to her brother, T'Challa, after he is crowned king and uses him as a test subject; with the intent to video him being thrown across the room. She never relents in her teasing and often disregards formality. Due to this trait she accidently insults people and does not see that what she is doing might be ostracizing her from those around her. It is evident through the movie that Shuri does not have many friends. She has her family and their connections but she does not have anyone else willing to protect or stand with her.
This leads into another weakness in her character. Shuri is often disrespectful towards others and condescending. She suffers from a separation from society that all intelligent people do, making it difficult for her to relate to the common person. She does not always put up with stupidity and will often dismiss or disregard those who she sees as less intelligent than herself.
Shuri is also sarcastic and at times cocky. She has every right to be, but there is nothing stopping her from taking things too far. She believes that everything she creates is amazing, which is true, but also that everything can be improved upon. She will never be satisfied with her creations and while this is a blessing, it is also a curse. Shuri will constantly strive for a perfection that she can never reach.
